Dj fined $25,000 for assaulting a Officer (Must Read)

DANCEHALL artiste Popcaan was fined $25,000 for assaulting a police officer at the Norman Manley International airport in 2013.

The entertainer, whose given name is Andre Sutherland, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in the Corporate Area Criminal Court.

He was charged for assault occasioning actual bodily harm. This is not the first time that the Never Sober artiste has found himself on an assault rap.

In 2010, he and two other men were charged for assaulting a pilot at the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Bahamas. The charges were subsequently dropped.

Buju Banton could soon smoke marijuana in prison! (MUST READ)

A judge has suggested that Buju Banton or any other Rastafarian serving time in prison could take court action in an attempt to be allowed to use marijuana as part of their religious beliefs and culture.

Judge Charles Gibson said it could result in a declaration that U.S. drug laws and the Religious freedoms protected in the constituion are incompatible.

The issue that would arise, however, is that most Rastas believe that Rasta is a way of life and not a religion. So it could end up being one of those, “you can’t habe it both ways” argument. If the movement is not a religion it cannot be protected under the Freedom of Religion clause.

Marijuana use is recognized as part of Rastafarian culture but even in Jamaica, the birthplace of the Rasta movement, smoking of the plant is not legal.

Although “weed” was not mentioned in the 16 tenets of Rasta, it was considered to be an aid to worship, a medicine and a source of income.

The people of west Kingston had much to cheer about as Liv Up Records' West Kingston Jamboree brought joy to the masses at Tivoli Gardens last Sunday.
From little-known acts such as Hylite, Brain and Lamie Rich, to Big-known acts such as Cutty CornRichie LawRas Fraser, Ratigan and Tony Frass who did a good job on stage, to heavyweights such as I Wayne, Chronixx and Rastafarian friends
Kabaka Pyramid and Jesse Royal, it was very enjoyable show.
There was much excitement as Kabaka Pyramid lifted a bottle of Spurlina in the air and Chronixx moved into action a must watch
Veteran Jose Wales, was definitely a crowd. pleaser, doing lyrics from yesteryear. The connected well with the young and mature in the audience. Mr Easy has not lost any of his musical energy and pelted hits after hits such as Drive Me Crazy, Tek Weh Meself and Murder, among others.
Major Mackerel, Horace Andy, Squidly and Daddy Lizard were other veterans who graced the stage.
Desparado had a lively set. His two dancers brought a vibes to proceedings. Skully Hop was a crowd favorite he was ready to clash Gully Bop who was not present.
Ratigan and Tony Frass burned a musical fire and Cherine Anderson was her usual fiery self, especially on songs such as Haffie Come Back and Rebel.

R&B And Jazz Singer, Natalie Cole Dies AT Aged 65

The Grammy-winning singer died on Thursday night at a hospital in Los Angeles, her publicist told the Associated Press news agency.

Maureen O’Connor, a spokeswoman for Ms. Cole, confirmed her death without giving a cause, according to The Associated Press. Ms. Cole had undergone a kidney transplant in 2009 and had suffered from other ailments recently, forcing the cancellation of a series of tour dates in November and December.

Ms. Cole — who was raised around jazz royalty in the company of her father and her mother, Maria Hawkins Cole, a singer who worked with Duke Ellington and Count Basie — came into her own as a singer in the 1970s by staking out her own territory in R&B. Her first album, “Inseparable,” in 1975, won two Grammys, and “Sophisticated Lady,” on a follow-up album the next year, won another.

Ms. Cole’s reputation declined for several years, partly because of struggles with drug addiction. But she came back, creating the biggest hit of her career by uniting, at least in the studio, with the legacy and voice of her father, singing along with him on a recording of his standard “Unforgettable” and winning several Grammys in 1991.
"Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived... with dignity, strength and honour. Our beloved mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain unforgettable in our hearts forever,'' said a statement from her son Robert Yancy, and sisters, Timolin and Casey Cole, AP reported.

Love is the strongest and the most magical of all emotions that we have the ability to experience. But no one will truly hang out with or date someone if there is nothing in common. maybe when people date older and marry older in life, there might be less concern for this. but in the prime years, it is of utmost importance.
